A POPULAR Tenby pub has given thanks to all those who enjoyed a ‘day at the races’ last month, raising a magnificent sum for a local trust fund.
The Evergreen Inn staged a virtual race night on November 21, with the event raising £655 for The Gareth Scotcher Trust.
Gareth, who lives in Tenby, was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in 2003, and the Trust was set up by close friends to improve the quality of life for him.
“I would like to thank everyone who supported the event, especially our very generous locals who just kept putting their winnings back in the pot!” said landlady Paula Humphreys.
All at the Evergreen Inn would like to thank the sponsors - Kilgetty Fish Bar, Priory Farm Shop, Five Arches Tavern, ND Toy and Partners Ltd, Pembrokeshire Tyres, Marsh Road Garage, and UK Commercial Gas; along with Ben Glanville for his brilliant commentary throughout the event.
“I’d also like to thank my fiance, James Lawrence, for his technical wizardry and constant support as always,” added Paula.
Chris Brace (of ND Toy), chairman of the Gareth Scotcher Trust, said that he’d like to thank Paula and James at the Inn for all their support and those who took part in the event who helped raise the donation.
“It’s a wonderful gesture and Gareth will be over the moon with this,” said Chris.
