The Met Office forecast for Wales is unsettled with heavy rain and strong winds, as Storm Gerrit continues to bring floods and gales across the country.

Natural Resources Wales currently has 43 flood alerts across Wales and two flood warnings in place in Carmarthenshire, including the River Cynin at St Clears.

There are two yellow warnings in place across Wales today for heavy rain throughout the day and strong winds from 6pm.

The rain warning, which has been in place since midnight and runs until 6pm tonight, says 30-40 mm of rain is expected to accumulate quite widely.

Across high ground of south and west Wales 70-90 mm of rain could develop during this period. Strong winds will likely exacerbate any impacts from the rain, with a wind speed of 40mph forecast at St Davids tonight at 9pm, and a 32mph wind heading up the Cleddau from Milford Haven.

Forecast wind speeds at 9pm today, December 27 show the St Davids peninsula bearing the brunt of Storm Gerrit.
