The Narberth branch of Versus Arthritis held a very successful Coffee Morning, and looks forward to future events.
The event at the Social Club House, The Moor, Narberth was well attended and a sum in excess of £550 was raised. The usual stalls included homemade cakes and desserts and a well-stocked tombola stall which was popular and attracted considerable interest.
Main raffle winners were: £20 M&S voucher Mrs W Thomas; £15 M&S voucher Mrs D Feetham; £15 voucher Mrs V Davies; £10 meat voucher Mrs A Griffiths, bottle of whisky Mr P Morris, bottle of gin Mrs S Morgan; box of chocolates Mrs L Dennis, plus many other prizes kindly donated by committee members. The two baskets of fruit and chocolates were won by Little Miss Annwen Jones and Mrs May James.
Chairwoman Mrs Ann Morris welcomed everyone to the event and informed everyone that Versus Arthritis UK is the charity leading the fight against arthritis, a painful and debilitating disease. Over 10 million people in the UK live with arthritis. In fact, every day, around 1,000 people are diagnosed with osteoarthritis, the most common form of the disease, and every month over 2,000 people are diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. Like many charities, Arthritis UK receives no Government assistance and that is why fund raising mornings like the one in Narberth recently are so important.
Ann then proceeded to thank Mr and Mrs J Owen - proprietors and the club officials for the use of the club house, and Mr Clive James for his assistance with printing. Lastly, Ann thanked the committee members for all the hard work, and everyone for attending and making this a very successful event.
Future events are being planned for the year when a warm welcome will be extended to everyone.
