During the Easter Holidays, head up to Tenby Museum & Art Gallery to discover all things puffin!

In recent years the Museum’s education and outreach Officer Glyn Harries has scheduled a series of educational family activity days, focusing on a variety of creatures that are resident around the coastline and waters of South Pembrokeshire.

“Seagulls have already been looked at, so now it is time to cast attention upon the Atlantic Puffin!” said Glyn.

“These birds are a big part of local wildlife and culture, and I very much believe that our workshop participants will find them fascinating.”

Puffins, also known as Sea Parrots, are considered to be the most iconic of all the seabirds in Pembrokeshire, with visitors coming from far and wide to view them! With their brightly coloured bills and distinct white cheek plumage, these birds were historically a resident of our mainland, but now the bird has retreated to our coastal islands.

Drop in 11am to 3pm on Wednesday, April 16 and 23 to learn about these amazing creatures and create some artwork.

There will even be the option to have your puffin designs featured in a puppet show that will be performed by us in May 2025, with collaboration from Small World Theatre Cardigan!

Glyn will be drafting a script for this play, with further details of the performances coming soon.

This activity takes place between 11 am and 3 pm on both days, so drop in between these times to take part! This activity will be free with standard admission (free with Art Pass), with under 18s being required to be supervised by an adult.

Supported by Art Fund, these activity days are inspired by the international public art project THE HERDS, which sees life-size puppet animals stampede across Africa and Europe to flee climate disaster.
