The ladies of Carew WI met this month at Great Wedlock Deer Farm near Tenby on one of the hottest afternoons of the year.
After a brief meeting to sort out any necessary arrangements before next month’s meeting, the intrepid members in the group set off on the 2+ mile walk - around the farm hoping to see some deer. Due to the searing heat, they expected the deer to be sheltering in the deep shade of the copses but were soon delighted to see quite a few break cover.
As they walked on towards the end of the round trip they were graced with the presence of the larger stags hugging a tree line.
The ladies saw plenty of deer, much to the delight of everyone.
Some took a more leisurely route around on one of the buggies, while others watched from the viewpoint.
By this time the bedraggled, dehydrated intrepids were pleased to see the farm buildings come into sight at the end of the walk and were now eager for a cuppa and a piece of cake as they joined the rest of the group chilling in the cafe.
It all made for a delightful afternoon spent in pleasant surroundings, with beautiful animals in stunning countryside and a superb, warm welcome from the staff.
