Coming live to theatre for the first time in 60 years, Primrose Productions brings The Navy Lark to the Torch this April.

The hugely anticipated show stars James Hurn known for portraying such iconic characters as Tony Hancock, Sid James and Kenneth Williams from his hit one man show Hancock and Co. Also starring in the production, will be Richard Usher and Mark Earby best known for The Goons Tour and The Lost Hancock Vacant Lot.

The Navy Lark stage production sees a cast of three bring to life three classic episodes from the much-loved radio series which ran for 1959 – 1977, originally featuring Leslie Phillips, Ronnie Barker, Jon Pertwee and Dennis Price. The series ran for 17 years and was broadcast every Sunday on Radio 4, with Tommy Reilly’s rendition of the Tradewind Hornpipe announcing the beginning of 30 minutes of nautical mayhem of the crew aboard the HMS Troutbridge. The Navy Lark is an example of classic British comedy from an era gone by.

The show will be presented in the style of a radio performance in front of a live audience, bringing to life the classic days of radio comedy. It’s touring across the UK after a successful The Navy Lark operation lockdown mission. The Torch Theatre is the ideal port to welcome such an exciting production.
