Merry Christmas! It has finally come; Christmas week is here. Remember to look after yourself over the holiday period. It can be a very busy time, but also a very quiet time as usual clubs and events close until January.
Take the chance to do some wellbeing activities, such as curling up with a good book. Tenby library is closed for Christmas week so dash over quickly on Saturday morning to borrow a book or two to last you the week.
Wrap up warm on a dry day and have a walk – the sea is always glorious to look at in the winter.
Try a craft that you haven’t thought about doing before – things that take time but aren’t too fiddly are great for focusing and calming the mind rather than stressing it more!
Here are some ideas –
Jam Jar night light holders
You can paint jam jars with acrylic paint, or get some spray paint, or special felt tips to do fancy designs. You can put stickers on them or cut out pictures from colour magazines or last years Christmas cards to glue on, and they look great with a bit of glitter. They make great vases or sweetie jars too.
Light bulb Snowmen
If you have some old lightbulbs lying around, they make great snow man tree decorations covered in silver glitter with black paint for the face and buttons.
Nail Polish Marbling
Did you know you can marble hard surfaces like mugs, baubles or glass jars using some nail varnish dropped into a blow of hot water and swirled around with a toothpick? When you like how it looks, just dip the item in and it will pick up the nail varnish and dry quite quickly. If some dries on where you don’t want it, take it off with nail polish remover.
Pom Pom crafts
Do you remember making pom poms? You can do it with two bits of cardboard cut into circles with smaller circles cut out of the inside. Wind wool around both circles together until it is quite full and cut around the edge between the two bits of cardboard. Tie some more wool around between the two bits nice and tight before you take them off. You can also get special plastic pom pom makers these days. Pom poms make great little animals, wreaths, mobiles, and lots of other things, and just need some odd bits of wool.
Boxing Day Swim
On Monday, December 26, at 11.30am, head for North Beach to support everyone who is joining the Boxing Day Swim – or you could take part! Everyone will be dashing into the water and back out to warm up by the fire and have a cup of soup. It is all for local charities so well worth supporting.
Urban Thinkscape Coastal Mural
You could also do a design for an element to go on the mural on the wall at the back of the North Walk zig zag. All designs sent in will be used, anything on a coastal theme would be great, it can be something natural or otherwise. Send them in to [email protected] or drop them in to the town council office in the De Valence on Upper Frog St. Watch this space for news of when you can start helping to clean up the site.
