NARBERTH & Whitland Rotary welcomed teams from Ysgol Dyffryn Taf and Redhill High School to the Youth Speaks Competition at the The Plas, in Narberth, on November 13.
Nine pupils took part in three fascinating debates, the subjects having been chosen by the competitors:
– ‘This house believes that schools should mandate that all pupils learn about one major holiday for all cultures/religions celebrated around the world.’
– ‘This house believes that peer pressure can be beneficial.’
– ‘Can one person ever change the world?’
The audience thoroughly enjoyed interesting, and at times amusing, debates and were impressed by the ability and knowledge of the participants.
Ysgol Dyffryn Taf won the Senior Section of the competition Both Intermediate and Senior teams go through to the next round on January 30, 2025 at Queen Elizabeth High School. This competition will ultimately find the champions for the whole of South Wales.
