A group of Pembrokeshire College students reached the final of the Global Entrepreneurship Challenge Cymru 2016 held at Cardiff City Football Stadium last week.
The Global Enterprise team had just 24 hours to meet the brief of the competition final which asked for the development of an online business for the creative industries sector.
On the day, the brief was set at 9.30 am and the team had to present a complete business plan by 6.30 pm. At 10 am the following morning, the group presented their business idea along with financial forecasts to a panel of judges and other competitors.
Interactive Media student, Will Brown said that the competition pushed the boundaries of a normal project with such a tight deadline.
“It was such a good experience and it helped show us what we’re capable of,” he remarked. “The pressure was on and we were completely worn out by the end of the challenge, but it was worth every second!”
The group’s idea of a website named ‘Unveil’ secured their place as runners-up, which was no mean feat in a competition of such scale.
Fellow student, Matt Malone commented: “We all enjoyed the challenge of the competition, we worked well as a team and have drawn inspiration from the experience.”
The event is part of the Big Ideas Wales programme, funded by the Welsh Government. The student team did Pembrokeshire College proud with their success as they competed against 16 other teams from colleges all over Wales.
