A Tenby primary school has benefited from a charitable donation, after it was nominated for support by members of a local building society branch.
The Friends of Saint Teilo’s School in Tenby received £400 to go towards a new iPad for the primary school’s young learners after the town’s branch of Yorkshire Building Society recommended the school to benefit from its Charitable Foundation.
The Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation is funded through the Small Change Big Difference® scheme where members donate the pennies from the interest on their accounts just once a year to help smaller charities around the UK. Last year it surpassed £9million in donations since 1999.
Lucy Keane, customer consultant at the Yorkshire Building Society branch in Tenby, said: “We’re delighted the Charitable Foundation agreed to support a school in our local community and we’re sure the new equipment will go some way to helping local children further their online learning potential.”
St Teilo’s School’s deputy head teacher Sophie Frearson, headmaster Kevin Phelps and pupils are seen with Lucy Keane of Tenby’s Yorkshire Building Society and Tenby councillor Sam Skyrme-Blackhall - before she handed over Mayoral duties.
