Saundersfoot CP School always end the week celebrating the learning of the pupils. Head teacher Mr. Nick Allen often celebrates the talent and dedication shown by pupils and regularly hands out reading certificates, swimming badges, gymnastics medals, football medals and martial art belts.

However, there was one award appearing quite regularly - the Blue Peter Badge, with the latest pupils awarded them - Zac, Grace, Izzy and Nansi.

Zac was awarded a Blue badge for his picture of the Blue Peter team.

Izzy has a Blue Peter Music badge for completing a picture and writing about her favourite instrument, the recorder which she is learning through the schools recorder club, she also added a few details about her favourite song. Izzy has also been awarded the original badge Blue Peter badge for drawing a picture of a Welsh castle - Carew Castle.

A pupil with three badges is Nansi. The Green badge was given for reporting on the school’s eco project of a tri-athlete, which was made from recycled materials and an art project based on making Blue Peter badges.

The Diamond badge was given to Nansi for completing some art work showing her family watching Blue Peter through the ages, and the original Blue Peter badge was awarded to her for drawing an interactive picture of the presenters.

She also has a limited edition Sports badge - awarded for inspiring another pupil to take up a sport, her friend Esme who she inspired to play cricket at Cresselly.

Grace has been awarded four badges - a Music badge for writing about a musical instrument, the violin which she is learning in school the orchestra.

The original badge was awarded to Grace for writing about Blue Peter and how she enjoys the programme; the Diamond badge for her picture/writing about her favourite Blue Peter episode; and the Green badge for writing about the school eco work and the work of the Eco committee.

Mr. Allen said: ‘The Blue Peter Badge has often been a recognition for going above and beyond or doing something different.

“In my time as a teacher and a head teacher there have not been that many Blue Peter badges I have handed out, yet, as headteacher in Saundersfoot School I have had the pleasure of presenting numerous children with the badges!

“These four pupils hold 10 badges between them and I am sure one day I will present the very rare Gold badge for outstanding achievements. These children are well on their way.”
