Friends of Pennar Community School organised a year six party to give leavers a lovely send off before the start of the summer holidays.
The event took place on Thursday, July 20, with Pennar Hall kindly donating the venue for free and £150 towards the party.
The wonderful DJ Lionel Nutting did the disco for free and the children made him a playlist ending with ‘Sweet Caroline’.
Lots of year six parents attended to help to set the hall up on the day.
There was a chocolate fountain, popcorn, hot dogs, crisps and cakes, whilst the ‘little balloon company’ and Zoe Turnbull did the balloons.
Christine Brackenbury (Christine’s Bakes and cakes) made individual cakes for all the children, with Julie Shankland-Bowman who runs the Alma donated reusable cups and lids with their names on.
Lianne Furlong made a ‘Class of 2023’ cake which was delicious, and pupils joined in the fun of a balloon net where all the balloons were let out above them. The children also received a word art and photograph of their class as a keepsake.
Helpers on the night were - Wendy McIntyre, Helena Holland, Lynsey Morris, Michele Wiggins, Michelle Roberts, Lianne Furlong, Andrea Lay and Zoe Turnbull.
Staff members - Mrs Davies, Mrs Jones, Mrs Hinds, Mrs Gilbert and Mrs Loftus also all stayed for the event.
“We wish everyone a lovely summer holiday!” said Michele Wiggins Chair of Friends of Pennar.
