A woman charged in connection with the deaths of four people following a tragic paddleboarding incident in Pembrokeshire three years ago has appeared in court.

Thirty-nine-year-old Nerys Bethan Lloyd, from Aberavon, has been charged with four counts of gross negligence manslaughter and one offence under the Health and Safety at Work Act following the incident on the River Cleddau in Haverfordwest on Saturday, October 30, 2021.

The incident involving a group of paddleboarders on a commercial river tour resulted in the deaths of Paul O’Dwyer, Andrea Powell, Morgan Rogers and Nicola Wheatley who became trapped at the weir.

Appearing at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on December 3, the defendant gave no indication of a plea; and will next appear at Swansea Crown Court on January 3.
