A Saundersfoot county councillor has brought concerns over a lack of police presence in the seaside village to the Chief Inspector of Pembrokeshire Policing.

County councillor for Saundersfoot’s south ward, Cllr Chris Williams said that he’d arranged a meeting this month with Insp Michael Llewellyn, along with local community councillors and business owners.

After the summer, Cllr Williams highlighted his continuing concerns over a perceived lack of police presence around the coastal village, and wrote to the Chief Inspector of Pembrokeshire policing outlining his views, with anti-social behaviour and other related issues, frequently occurring in the community, especially over busy holiday periods.

The message was also reinforced to shop owners to report any incidents of shoplifting to the police.

Cllr Williams also met with the two local PCSOs to outline his views.

“I have highlighted previously my concerns regarding the lack of a police presence and thought I would update the local residents of any developments,” said Cllr Williams.

“We are there to raise our concerns and how Saundersfoot can forge stronger links on working together as a community.

“I appreciate that there are many questions that we want to ask and hopefully we can find common ground to move forward together,” he added.
