Charges at many of the county’s coastal beauty spots look set to change - including new charges as well as more free periods.

Pembrokeshire Coast National Park has asked the county council to start the legal process of varying its ‘off-street parking places order’ at a number of sites.

Included in the proposal for consultation, approved by cabinet on Monday (July 2), are introducing seasonal charges at Brooklands Place, Amroth, West Angle Bay, Nolton Haven and The Station, Penally.

There has been public opposition from residents in Angle and they are encouraged to take part in the National Park’s upcoming consultation on the plan.

Cabinet member for planning and infrastructure Clr. Phil Baker, who declared a personal interest as a member of the National Park Authority, said: “Angle residents have already approached us concerned about charging for the car park and been advised that they take full part im the consultation before it comes back to us.”

Other proposals include introducing ‘up to 30 minute free’ parking in: Broad Haven, Freshwater East, Little Haven, Manorbier Beach, The Pebbles, Newgale, Newport Sands, Regency, Saundersfoot, The Harbour, Solva, Oriel y Parc, St Davids and Poppit Sands, St Dogmaels.

New two hour and three hour tariffs are planned for some car parks as well as changes to the daily and weekly charges at The Pebbles.

A number of car parks will see the charging period extended from 5 to 7pm and the £100 reserved resident bays in Little Haven will be removed.
