Pembrokeshire Council's Licencing Inspectors and Dyfed-Powys Police conducted a join operation today outside one of the County’s schools to carry out checks on taxi operators.
This morning (January 31) a joint operation was carried out at Portfield School, Haverfordwest by PCC’s Licencing Inspectors; Transport Management Department; Nigel Lewis the Police Licencing officer; along with the Haverfordwest Neighbourhood Policing Team.
“This operation was put together to respond to complaints made about Safeguarding,” said a spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police.
“A total of 26 vehicles were stopped and Inspected under the Local Government Misc Act 1976.
“Four vehicles were given instant prohibitions, due to construction and use faults.
“One of the vehicles was also found to be operating without a meter installed when it was supposed to have one fitted.
“All taxi drivers and the pupil escorts were appropriately licenced and badged, with feedback from the taxi operators being extremely positive and welcomed,” they added.
