Cosheston VC School has received a national award for its success in using and teaching Information and Communications Technology. The school is the first in Pembrokeshire to receive the national ICT Mark, which builds on the success of the Naacemark Award. The award recognises a school's success in developing and implementing a strategic approach to ICT, with the aim of enhancing learning and teaching. Clr. Islwyn Howells, cabinet member for children, young people, Welsh language and learning, congratulated staff at Cosheston on their hard work. He said: "A number of schools in Pembrokeshire have already achieved the Naacemark award, but since education secretary Ruth Kelly announced her plans in 2005 to develop a National ICT Mark, Cosheston VC School is the first in Pembrokeshire to make the transition from the Naacemark award to the National ICT mark." The school had to complete a self-review, in addition to the Naacemark criteria, and identify pupils' progress in ICT, and the impact of ICT on attitudes, behaviour, and pupils' progress. "Their success demonstrates the excellent ICT teaching that is taking place in our schools," said Clr. Howells.
