PRESIDENT Diane Rigden welcomed ladies to the St Issell’s WI Christmas party, with special birthday wishes to Shirley Cunningham who had recently celebrated her 90th birthday.
Shirley was presented with a bouquet. Birthday wishes for December also went to Pat Poole and Sandra John.
The carol service on December 6 had been enjoyed, but the attendance was rather disappointing. Ladies had all donated five Christmas cards which would be distributed to the local residential homes. A brief business meeting followed with the newsletter being read. There was some discussion about the Wales Conference in April.
Ladies then enjoyed a buffet supper provided by the committee, including fruit punch made by Diane together with Prosecco, finishing with a delicious birthday cake for Shirley.
Anne-Marie Littlewood had arranged three quizzes - all connected with Christmas; Diane’s team being the winners. The first prize in the bumper raffle was won by Shelagh Griffin, with several ladies going home with prizes, and the money raised from donations instead of Christmas cards was won by Nancy Stafford who would be donating the money to Greenacres Animal Rescue.
After much chatter and laughter, Diane wished everyone in the Saundersfoot-based WI group a happy Christmas and a healthy and peaceful new year, looking forward to seeing everyone in January when the meeting will be at 2pm.
