There was an excellent turnout at St Caradoc’s Church, Lawrenny to recognise the 900 years since the death of the patron saint of harpists.
Mr David Lort-Phillips introduced Bishop Wyn Evans (Ret’d) who gave a very informative talk about the life of St Caradoc and his journeys through Wales.
St Caradoc’s last wish was to be buried at St Davids where his remains still lie. There are some pretty amazing stories of his life and the subsequent transporting of his body to St Davids.
Following the talk there was a concert which included some beautiful Welsh music, by Celtic harpist Jess Ward and violinist Holly Robinson. It was so lovely to hear how the two instruments complimented each other.
A finger buffet was provided by the ladies of the church and this was much enjoyed by everyone who attended, together with hot drinks and wine, and much catching up with old friends.
The evening produced an amount of £325 with further generous donations amounting to £250 - a very welcome contribution to church funds. A big ‘thank you’ goes to everyone who supported.
