PEMBROKE Rotary Club has celebrated the ninth year of running its Community Raffle at the South Pembrokeshire Golf Club.

Ten prize winners were drawn from a lottery box that contained over 3,800 tickets, bringing the total in excess of 40,000 over the nine year period and benefiting 30 local charitable organisations who retained the income from selling the tickets at £1 each; the cost being met by the Rotary Club and its sponsor.

The winning tickets were drawn by club members and guests present.

1st prize of £300 was sold by HOPE MS Therapy Centre, Neyland.

2nd prize of £200 was also sold by HOPE.

3rd prize of £100 was sold by Ysgol Harri Tudur.

Seven further, non-cash prizes were also drawn - generously donated by Rotarians and their regular contacts. These comprised a meal voucher by Old Kings Arms, a bottle of Pimm’s No 1, two garden games by Atlantic Trampolines, a box of chocolates; four bottles of wine and a lucky dip of goodies.

With entertainment by guitarist Roger Ferris, the event also provided partnering organisations the opportunity to chat about their particular causes.

The Rotary Club of Pembroke is very grateful for the support of its members, wives, partners and friends who help make the Raffle a success for local causes. A special thanks was also given to Rotarian Bernie Scourfield for arranging the event for the ninth year and raising significant funds for local charities. Thanks also go to Haven Self Storage for absorbing the printing costs and the staff of the Golf Club who provided an excellent finger buffet.
