A Pembrokeshire man’s 80th birthday celebration has raised £2,250 for the Wales Air Ambulance, the only air ambulance charity based in, and dedicated to, the people of Wales.
Seeking ideas for his 80th birthday, Les Jones decided on a charity event - a barbecue with fancy dress; red boiler suits the attire of the day - and the donations kept rolling in.
The cheque presentation took place on the evening on August 12 at the Cresselly Arms, Cresswell Quay, Pembrokeshire.
There Les - with help from family, friends and the local community - was able to hand Wales Air Ambulance representatives a cheque for £2,250.
The Wales Air Ambulance charity was formed on St. David’s Day, March 1, 2001 and relies entirely on donations. It costs £11.2 million per year to keep the helicopters in the air and fleet of rapid response vehicles on the road. For more information, visit www.walesairambulance.com .
