Summerhill WI’s December festive meeting opened with an excellent chip supper supplied by Kilgetty Fish Bar.

Members were joined by guest Ann Platt with all enjoying their meal which was accompanied by a welcome glass of bucks fizz.

President Marlene then introduced Dee Williams who demonstrated the construction of a natural wreath using a variety of plants including holly and ivy. Hilary gave the vote of thanks after which Dee chose the motto for the 2025 programme. Thanks go to Marlene for submitting ‘Love is the master key that opens the gate of happiness’.

A short business meeting was held with members agreeing the ‘coffee, cake and chat’ event had been a lovely social get-together. Everyone was pleased to see the Recruitment Awards in the Federation Letter with Summerhill receiving joint 3rd place with 25%.

The raffle was drawn after which the ladies enjoyed a choice of desserts before all receiving their lucky dip gifts and what a wonderful selection there was.

There was an excellent amount of Christmas food donated for the Narberth Food Bank and money raised instead of distributing Christmas cards will be forwarded to the Salvation Army. Many thanks were given to all for their generosity before they were wished a Merry Christmas.

The next meeting will be in Amroth Parish Hall, Summerhill on Monday January 13 at 7pm when the Rev’d Shirley Murphy will talk about her journey from India to Wales. Hostesses – Dawn, Hilary and Sue Cale.
