Two celebrity chefs will be cooking up the best of Welsh and Pembrokeshire produce in Saundersfoot to celebrate the St. David's Day weekend.

Anthony Evans and Hazel Thomas are all set to show how to serve up tasty dishes with a traditional flavour during a series of demonstrations at the Saundersfoot St. David's Day Food and Craft Festival.

S4C star Anthony will be focusing on Welsh cultural foods - including wild bass, lava bread, cockles, rabbit and game, while Hazel plans to source many of the ingredients for her demonstrations from local produce on display for sale and tasting in the festival's heated harbourside marquee.

Said Anthony, who appears on S4C's Planed Plant and children's cooking programme Stwffio - for which he received a British Bafta nomination in 2008: "Game and fish is healthy, nutritious food, and the beauty of it is that it can often be picked up for free!"

Hazel, who works as a food consultant and event organiser, was brought up on a farm in Ceredigion, and is a firm believer in cooking with the best of local and organic produce.

She and Anthony will both be travelling to Washington, USA, this summer on behalf of the Welsh Assembly Government, where they will be cooking as part of the team delivering the food element at the Smithsonian Folk Life Festival.

The chefs will each be giving five half-hour displays during the two-day festival - Hazel on the Saturday and Anthony on the Sunday - and will be supported by Pembrokeshire County Council's food team, Kate Morgan and Jo Gale.

The festival, organised by Saundersfoot Chamber for Tourism, takes place on Saturday, February 28, between 10 am and 6 pm and Sunday, March 1, from 10 am to 4 pm.

One of the highlights of the weekend is the  Cawl Cooking Championship of the World...and Elsewhere, judged on the vote of the public, who are invited to 'cwm cawling' on the Saturday lunchtime at local eating establishments. The result of the keenly-contested title will be announced during the Sunday.
