Located in the heart of Carmarthen and Llanelli town centres, Shopmobility schemes offer essential equipment, such as wheelchairs and scooters, to support individuals with mobility challenges.
This service is especially valuable during the busy Christmas season, helping people with temporary or permanent mobility needs navigate shopping areas and festive events with greater ease.
Conveniently located on the ground floor of Catherine Street’s multi-storey car park in Carmarthen and Cowell Street in Llanelli, these services offer easy access and support to those who need it.
Richard Jones of Carmarthen Shopmobility said: “Our Shopmobility service ensures that everyone, regardless of their mobility needs, can fully enjoy the joy of Christmas shopping and celebrations. We’re committed to making the season more inclusive and accessible for all.”
Cllr Edward Thomas, Cabinet Member for Transport, Waste, and Infrastructure Services, highlighted the importance of Carmarthenshire’s Shopmobility schemes in promoting accessibility and community spirit: “Carmarthen and Llanelli Shopmobility schemes play a vital role in ensuring our towns remain accessible to everyone, especially during the busy festive season. These services not only supports individuals with mobility needs but also strengthens our communities by enabling inclusivity and independence. I encourage anyone who may benefit from this invaluable resource to make use of it this Christmas.”
Shopmobility is more than just mobility—it’s about building stronger communities. Volunteers play a vital role in supporting the service, and new volunteers are always welcome to help ensure its success during the busy Christmas season and throughout the year.
