Carew AFC Under 11s recently enjoyed success in a national football tournament at Haven Holiday Camp, Pwllheli, which took place over four days on the May Day Bank Holiday.
The team represented Wales in their group and met stiff opposition against teams from areas in Manchester and Liverpool. All matches were played at Portmadoc, with Snowdonia providing a beautiful backdrop.
The highlight of the team competition was a 4-0 win, which proved to be the highest scoring victory in their group.
All players did Carew AFC proud, with some inspired football played throughout the tournament. The team was well supported, as a party of 50 family members travelled up to North Wales. The team even received a free McDonalds in Aberystwyth, courtesy of the Pembroke Dock branch.
The squad consisted of Rory Sillence, Hannah Lewis, Jon Harris, Morgan Thomas, Josh Banfield, Joe Worley, William James, Tom Arthur, Thomas Grimwood, Martyn Carroll, Kieran Walton. Unfortunately, Tom Scourfield could not attend through illness.
The trip was made possible through kind sponsorship from local and national companies. The team would like to thank Thomas Scourfield and Sons, Mainport, Cape, Jenkins and Davies, Jordnas, Nalco, Ashdale, ESS, Wardles, Kitsons, Mitsui Babcock, Amec and Finclean.
