At the Welsh Wine Awards held at Llanerch Vineyard Hotel near Cardiff on November 15, a sparkling wine from Pembrokeshire was chosen as the winner of the ‘Best Sparkling White Wine’ category.

A panel of judges, including Masters of Wine from Wales and France, tasted 73 wines from 17 vineyards before selecting Velfrey NV Traditional Method PGI Welsh Sparkling Wine as the winner in its category.

The vineyard also picked up a second place and a third place in the two other categories entered, for its still white and sparkling rosé offerings. Truly a great achievement for Velfrey Vineyard, based at Lampeter Velfrey, near Narberth representing Pembrokeshire in this prestigious competition.
