The Blue Lagoon Water Park in Pembrokeshire has won Best Family Venue of the Year at the Welsh Hospitality Awards.

Beating off competition from Wales Millennium Centre, Oakwood Theme Park and Big Pit National Coal Museum, the facility at Bluestone National Park Resort, near Narberth, was voted for by the Welsh public.

The annual Welsh Hospitality Awards, now in their second year, celebrate the hard work of the best professionals and businesses in the industry.

Staff and managers from The Blue Lagoon were presented with their award at a ceremony at Portland House in Cardiff.

Speaking following the event, Blue Lagoon manager, Ian Darbyshire, said: “We are thrilled to receive this award, particularly as it is voted for by the Welsh public.

“This is testimony to the hard work of all of our staff and of their unwavering commitment to make sure that all of our visitors have a fantastic and memorable experience when the come to enjoy our facilities.”

The Blue Lagoon, which is set in a temperature-controlled environment, has a wave machine, a rapids river ride and several exciting water flumes that exit into the outside elements before returning with a splash into the pool area. There’s also a lazy river that takes swimmers outside, where they can enjoy spectacular views across Pembrokeshire from a warm, bubbling outdoor pool.
