County Councillor for Pembroke Dock Central Ward Paul Dowson has successfully abseiled down Pembroke Castle’s 75-foot keep to raise some much-needed funds for Cariad Angel Gowns Cuddle Cot Appeal.

And he did so wearing a very skimpy pink bikini as he says ‘in the hope that such a public display of his perfect athletic body would attract a lot of curiosity and sponsorship for this deserving charity.’

Paul hopes to raise at least £1,000 for his chosen charity.

Said a spokesperson for the charity: “What an absolutely fantastic morning we had doing our sponsored abseil at Pembroke Castle.

“Huge thanks to Clr. Paul Dowson for braving all in his pink bikini, to our trustees Angela Sacco and Jodie Low for overcoming their fears and making it down the keep in one piece, to Sonia Allcock for travelling from North Wales to take part and to each and every other person who participated and made it such a brilliant event.

“None of this would have been possible without the expert advice and coaxing from John, of Overhang Climbing Wall, Tenby.”

Cariad Angel Gowns fundraising group supports the volunteers of Cariad Angel Gowns for stillborn and neonatal loss, with the purchase of lace, ribbon, postage costs etc for the outfits they make from donated wedding dresses, and also to help fund the cost of cuddle cots (£1,600 each) for hospitals and funeral directors throughout Wales and the UK
