A ‘kind-hearted’ visitor to Tenby recently asked friends and family to mark his 80th birthday with charitable donations instead of gifts.
Bryan Giddings visits the resort around a dozen times a year and has been a guest at Tenby’s Imperial Hotel for many years.
“The hotel has been running regular raffles for the RNLI for many years now; and every time Bryan comes and stays with us he makes the greatest donation towards it,” explained the Imperial Hotel’s manager Simon McVeigh.
“For example, instead of a Christmas card, he’ll choose to donate the money to the raffle.
“He’s a dedicated man and likes to support good causes, and anyone would think that he’s made a valuable enough contribution to charity, but Bryan hasn’t stopped there.
“For his 80th birthday celebrations, he decided to ask his friends and family not to bring gifts, but instead a donation, and chose two charities, one being the RNLI and the second being the First Response team in Herefordshire, which is where he lives.
“Both charities are close to his heart and yet again he has shown his generosity,” continued Simon.
Bryan’s 80th birthday celebration was a fantastic fundraising success and raised a total of £500, which he then split between each chosen charity.
“This is an astonishing amount and from the staff at the Imperial we would like to thank Bryan for his contribution and his bounteousness to such a good cause,” added Simon.
