It could be a case of returning to the drawing board for plans to extend Tenby’s skateboard park overlooking the South Beach.
Somewhere in the region of £130,000 funding is required to enhance and extend the facility and Tenby town council along with the Tenby Jubilee Play and Skate Park Association have been working to secure grant funding for the scheme along with sponsorship to oversee the development, but speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of the town council, the town clerk Andrew Davies told members that there could be a delay in securing a work tender for the project, as the initial design plans had been rethought by committee members.
“The problem is that the committee keep moving the goalposts, and that has caused a slight delay to the process,” he told councillors.
“They came up with an idea, which was initially to just extend the skate park, but then changed the idea to consider knocking it down, and starting again. Then they change their minds agin and decided that they wanted a wooden facility and not concrete.
“There is no consistency in the approach, and they need to say this is the size we want and this is the design we want, and then we can go back to the tender,” continued Mr. Davies, who explained that he had been in discussions with Pembrokeshire County Council’s regeneration manager, Sinead Henehan, about securing funds from the Enhancing Pembrokeshire Grant, collated from the Second Homes Tax scheme.
Deputy Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown said that it was unfortunate that the scheme had been set back a little.
“The committee and youngsters have worked really hard on all of this, so it’s sad that we may have to go back and start again, but we’ll get our bid in for funding,” she remarked, stating that they would meet again in November.
