Once again, thanks to the generosity of owner Matthew Ronowitz, the Tenby RNLI Fundraising Committee Christmas Coffee Morning took place in the convivial surroundings of The Qube, Tudor Square.
Friends, old and new were greeted with a warm welcome and delicious coffee and mince pies, all donated by the Qube, and served with friendly efficiency by Gill and the girls.
A splendid array of prizes meant that the raffle tickets sold like hot cakes, and the RNLI gift and card stall manned by the redoubtable Doreen Mortimer did brisk business all morning, raising £150. All members of Tenby RNLI are very proud of Doreen who was recently awarded an Excellence in Volunteering Award by RNLI headquarters in Poole.
It was a pleasure to see coxswain Phil John enjoying a coffee with David Morgan, chair of the Local Management Group and to welcome Phil’s brother, Robert, another Tenby Lifeboat stalwart, with daughter Sofia as well as many of the ladies who give of their time to volunteer in the RNLI shop.
The final total raised was a magnificent £520, and members were particularly pleased considering the financial problems many charities are facing in these difficult times.
President Shan and Chairman, Nicole expressed thanks to everyone who came along and particularly to Gill and the girls for their hard work. Especial thanks must go to Matthew for, once again, supporting Tenby RNLI. It is wonderful to have such support from a local businessman. Thanks too, to the Tenby Tea and Coffee Company for sponsoring the coffee .
An added bonus was that the hard-working, ever smiling Gill won the first prize in the raffle, a magnificent Christmas hamper. Well deserved!
It was certainly a great way to begin the Christmas festivities and the committee members would like to wish all their supporters a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy and Healthy New Year.
