The peace of the ancient Canaston Woods was recently disturbed for four weeks' intensive activity to open overgrown public rights of way, giving access to 5.5km of paths.
Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority staff and voluntary wardens teamed up with local contractors to unblock and clear paths in the National Park section of the woodland which had become inaccessible.
The work was funded by Bluestone National Park Resort.
Park Authority ranger (south), Tim Jones, said: "Nearly 2.5km of these paths were either totally or partly blocked by young fir trees and/or fallen mature native trees and thick vegetation.
"The public can now explore new areas of the woodland as the paths wind through a diverse habitat of mature trees, glades and more recent planting."
Local contractors Paul Butland Mini Digger Services and R&M Countryside Services competently cleared and graded six public paths in very wet weather, added Tim.
Three kissing gates, 10 signposts and several drainage features were also installed.
