Due to the risk of snow and low temperatures that are being forecast in Pembrokeshire from this evening onwards, PCC’s housing services will be opening its emergency shelter for rough sleepers.

As a result, the shelter will open this evening, Friday, January 3 at 7pm and will remain open until the morning of Monday, January 6.

“The situation will be reviewed again on Monday morning. If you, or someone you know is sleeping rough, they may be able to access emergency shelter during this period,” said a PCC spokesperson.

To access this accommodation, you will need to call Gateway on 01437 775268 as soon as you can up until 5pm.

If you are calling after 5pm, you will need to contact Pembrokeshire County Council’s out of hours team on 03003 332222.

There is a MET Office Yellow weather warning for snow and ice across the UK this weekend from 12pm Saturday to Sunday night.

There is potential for freezing rain and icy conditions in Pembrokeshire so please take care when driving.

If snow arrives in the County it is expected to be short lived, turning to rain in coastal areas with icy conditions to follow, especially overnight in the north east of Pembrokeshire.

A spokesperson for PCC added: “As always our Winter Maintenance Teams will be assessing and treating primary routes as required. Please keep an eye on weather forecasts and take extra care on your journeys.

“An Amber warning for snow and ice is in place for central and mid Wales, and further northwards.”
