THERE can be no more idyllic way to spend a midsummer evening than listening to some classic jazz, Pimms in hand, whilst watching the sunset over the west woods from the walled garden at Colby.
If this sounds like your perfect night out, then get together with your friends for 'Midsummer Jazz', Sunday, June 21, 7 - 9 pm, at the National Trust's Colby Woodland Garden, Amroth,
Music will be supplied by Oxford Classic Jazz duo, Debbie Arthurs, vocalist and one of the finest exponents of 1920s hot jazz percussion, with master syncopator Nick Gill at the piano. Nick and Debbie specialise in the elegant jazz of Scott Joplin, Gershwin and Irving Berlin and some of the most talented jazz musicians from Greenhill School have been invited to join in for a guest spot with the professionals.
Elizabeth Sleight, event co-ordinator for the National Trust, said "The evening is a fund-raising event for Macmillan Cancer Support, and we are delighted to be of assistance. It will be lovely to welcome people here on midsummer night when the garden looks at its best."
The evening is organised by the Saundersfoot, Tenby and District Macmillan Cancer Support Fundraising Committee and tickets at £12.50 (price includes a welcoming glass of Pimms and canapes) are available from the Colby shop, 01834 811885 or from Angela Woods 01834 814266.
