A dolls house enthusiast is appealing for help after discovering a mysterious drawing.

Gwen Head, of Sageston, bought the dolls house from a car boot sale at Carew.

“I walked past it for two weeks and on the third week when I saw it, I thought it looked so lonely, I must buy it.”

Gwen isn’t sure if it is hand or trademade, but when she and her husband Roy started to refurbish the house, they found a drawing in the roof.

“I showed the drawing to my mum, who is 91, and she thinks it may have been done by a German Prisoner of War. There is reference to U13 on it, which is a German submarine which was sunk in Lowestoft. There were no casualties and there are some figures on the picture.

“The vessel which sunk it was HMS Weston, and, although I cannot find a picture of that sloop, others of its kind had two funnels and there is a sloop-looking object with two funnels on the picture. The windows are in 1930s style and the U-boats were in operation during that time.”

Continued Gwen, who has over 10 dolls houses in her collection, having been making and restoring them for around 20 years: “I would love to know the history of the dolls house. I’m sure it has a fascinating story to tell as it certainly looks like it’s been a much-loved little house.”
