Tenby RNLI’s lifeboat crew were alerted to check out the waters off Stackpole Head, after the Coastguard received a report from a member of the public that a dinghy with two persons on board may be in difficulty.
The Haydn Miller lifeboat was launched at 3pm on Sunday, July 7, with the crew making best speed to the area, some eight miles west of Tenby.
They began their search for the dinghy which was reportedly yellow in colour, and soon located yellow and black kayaks, but the occupants were fishing and in no difficulty.
Having spoken to several other kayaks in the area and with none of them having seen a dinghy and nobody reported missing, it was deemed a false alarm with good intent.
