Tenby RNLI lifeboat crew raced into festive action to rescue a child that found itself cut-off by the tide on St Catherine’s Island.

Tenby's inshore lifeboat was requested to launch shortly after 3pm on Saturday, December 28, after a report that a child was stuck on the steps to St Catherine's Island by the incoming tide.

The volunteer crew were quickly on the water and alongside the island next to Castle Beach within seconds, where they found the boy on the steps.

He was taken aboard the lifeboat, where he was checked over to make sure he needed no medical attention, before being brought back to the inshore lifeboat station to await the arrival of his parents.

HM Coastguard Tenby were also in attendance.
