Tenby’s lifeboat crew launched into action this Monday morning to tend to an injured party on a sailing boat.

The RNLI’s all weather lifeboat the Haydn Miller launched shortly after 9.30 am, following a request for assistance from the skipper of a 20 metre sailing vessel, after a member of his crew suffered a suspected broken foot.

The volunteer crew made best speed to Barafundle, some nine miles west of Tenby and were soon alongside the casualty vessel, which had been on passage from Falmouth to Scotland when the crew member was injured.

Once the casualty had been assessed, it was decided to return him to Tenby so that he could get further medical care should it be needed.

The lifeboat arrived back at the station at 10.30 am, from where the injured crew member made his own way to hospital for further treatment.
