A man from Gwent caught drink-driving in Saundersfoot has been disqualified for 17 months after admitting the charge in court.
Prosecutor Sian Vaughan told the court that it was around 2.40 am on September 11, when officers became aware of Mr. Saunders in his car on St. Brides Road, due to a defective light on his vehicle.
“He was also travelling over the centre line of the road and when they stopped him to speak to him, he was clearly intoxicated,” she explained.
Defence solicitor Kate Williams told the court that her client offered no excuses.
“He knew he’d been drinking. He’d received a phone call from a distressed friend and went to pick him up,” she said.
“Mr. Saunders is a self-employed gas fitter, so this driving ban will hit him hard,” continued Ms Williams.
Magistrates disqualified the defendant from driving for 17 months and ordered him to pay a total of £503 in fines and costs.
