On the morning of Tuesday, April 23, the Swansea West fire crew and Wales Urban Search and Rescue Team rescued a dog that had become stuck underneath a property in Parkmill, Swansea.

The Wales Urban Search and Rescue Team is comprised of crew members from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service – who have highly specialised training in Urban Search and Rescue environments.

The small dog was trapped under a domestic dwelling of non-standard construction.

Crews proceeded to remove a large quantity of patio slabs and earth at the rear of the property for access and started digging a tunnel under the property’s kitchen.

The Urban Search and Rescue Team utilised ‘Delsar’ listening and seismic detection equipment and technical search cameras to pinpoint the dog’s exact location.

A second access point was created through the property’s kitchen floor.

Crews successfully managed to rescue Jock, a three-year-old black Poodle, who was alive and well, and was reunited with his owner.
