It’s been a busy couple of weeks for members of Angle RNLI’s lifeboat crew with various call outs along the coastline.

On Sunday, May 26 whilst locking into Milford Docks to refuel following the previous tasking, shortly after 2 am, the Lifeboat was tasked to an incident within the marina.

Following some personal belongings being found on the quay wall, a concerned marina operative contacted the Coastguard.

With suspicion that a person may have entered the water, the crew were tasked to conduct a search of the area.

The Y boat was deployed to search around the marina legs, piles and pontoons while the All-Weather Lifeboat began searching all other accessible parts of the marina.

Dale Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked to conduct searches from the shore and the Police were also on the scene to conduct enquiries.

After around 4 hours of searching, the crew were stood down as the casualty had been located elsewhere having self recovered from the water.

With no further assistance required, the lifeboat returned to station where she was readied for further service by 7 am.

At 3.40 pm on Wednesday, May 29 the crew were paged following multiple 999 calls to the Coastguard reporting a father and son in difficulty in the water at Freshwater West.

However, as the crew were preparing to launch the tasking was subsequently cancelled as the casualties had self recovered and required no further assistance.

St Govan’s Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked to continue proceeding to rendezvous with the casualties and offer medical attention.

During the early hours of Saturday morning, June 1, at 12.30 am, the crew were paged again following a call from a 52ft motor vessel that had suffered steering failure around 25 miles south-south west of St Anne’s Head.

The vessel was holding station using her engines but was unable to steer.

The lifeboat launched and began proceeding to the vessel, arriving on scene around an hour later.

Following an assessment, the vessel was taken under tow to Milford Haven.

After a tow of around five hours, the lifeboat transferred the vessel into an alongside tow off Milford Docks and safely manoeuvred the vessel in through the lock pits and placed them alongside within the marina.

Once complete, the crew were stood down and the lifeboat returned to station and was readied for further service by 8:15 am.
