Police are continuing to investigate the two vehicle road traffic collision which occurred in Carmarthenshire during the early hours of Saturday morning, and closed the A48 in both directions for several hours.

The RTC occurred on the westbound carriageway between Crosshands and Pont Abraham on Saturday, January 25, at around 4.20am

The 18-year-old man, who was arrested, has been released on conditional bail pending further police enquires.

He was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving with no insurance and driving whilst impaired.

The vehicles involved in the collision were a black BMW and a white Toyota Prius.

The driver of the BMW had failed to stop for police prior to the collision. The Independent Office for Police Conduct has been notified and a formal referral process has been initiated.

Four people were taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life threatening or life changing.
