A Pembrokeshire chef, well known for working in the areas of Tenby and Saundersfoot, described as having an ‘unhealthy’ interest in children - has been jailed after being found with 149 images and videos of child sexual abuse on his mobile phone.
Fifty-seven-year-old Wayne Mansbridge of Twycross near Saundersfoot, was sentenced at Swansea Crown Court after pleading guilty to three offences of possessing Category A, B and C indecent images of children; and two offences of making Category B and C indecent images of children.
The court heard that police officers attended Mansbridge’s abode on an unrelated matter last year, and as part of an investigation, his mobile phone was seized and analysed, and a total of 149 indecent images and videos of children were discovered on the device, with some photographs involving children as young as eight years old.
Mansbridge was subject to sex offender notification requirements at the time of these latest offences, which took place between June 24, 2020 and September 27, 2023.
He had previous convictions the court heard, including possessing extreme pornography back in 2013; and of sexually assaulting a serving soldier the following year.
On sentencing, Judge Huw Rees described Mansbridge’s interest in children as ‘unhealthy’ stating: “These images are shared extensively on the internet and they remain on the internet forever and a day. These are not just victims, but real children.”
The community order Mansbridge was currently serving, was revoked by the judge, who imposed a 14-month sentence; ordering the defendant to register as a sex offender for 10 years; and making him subject to a 10-year sexual harm prevention order too.
